How does AntiClickbait work?
AntiClickbait is a Chrome extension that defuses clickbait headlines. When you spot a baity headline, click the shield icon next to it — AI reads the full article and answers the question the headline is baiting you with, so you get the answer without the click.
Is AntiClickbait free?
Yes. You can defuse up to 5 headlines a day without an account and up to 20 a day when you sign in — no credit card, no paid plan required. The project runs on voluntary donations.
Which sites does it work on?
Any news site. The extension detects article links on news portals and social media and adds its icon next to them — if the icon appears, the headline can be defused.
Is my browsing history tracked?
No. AntiClickbait never tracks or stores your browsing history. The only thing it processes is the individual article you explicitly ask it to analyze — nothing else.
What is the on-device mode?
On Chrome versions with built-in AI, the extension can run the analysis locally with Gemini Nano. The article never leaves your device, and you can keep defusing headlines even after your daily cloud analyses run out.
How do I install it?
